Scottish Records

Records of Scottish Births, Marriages and Deaths are kept separately to those from England and Wales. Civil Registration began in 1855 and prior to this, as elsewhere, BMDs were recorded in Parish Registers.

Scottish BMD certificates are more expensive than those from England and Wales. A low-cost alternative may be use use our sighting service (which also applies for Parish Records). We can locate and provide details of the entry you are looking for. In some instances, a facsimile of the original entry may be available, at no extra cost.
